Government Contractors to Get Up to Speed with the Identify Function of the NIST Cybersecurity Framework

Focus on Identifying Cyber Risk

April 10, 2017 (Silver Spring, MD) – CyberRx and Wapack Labs are co-presenting the American Small Business Cybersecurity Xchange Spring Summit on April 19, 2017 to help government contractors identify  cyber risks and implement the Cybersecurity Framework developed by the National Institute of Standard and Technology (NIST) and the public sector. Foley and Lardner LLP will host the event at their Georgetown office in Washington, DC. Summit registration is currently open at, though seating is limited.

“Government contractors are prime targets for cyber-attacks because they frequently have access to sensitive data and information about our nation’s critical infrastructure—all of which can be exploited,” explained CyberRx CEO Ola Sage. “At our summit, CEOs and CXOs will see how they can identify and prioritize their company’s high risk areas using the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, and how to create and implement a strong and cost effective cybersecurity action plan to strengthen their cybersecurity posture and meet DFAR, FAR, and federal requirements.”

In 2016, the Department of Defense issued the Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) clause 252.204-7012 Safeguarding Covered Defense Information and Cyber Incident Reporting, which imposes a set of fifteen security controls “for the basic safeguarding of contractor information systems that process, store, or transmit Federal contract information.” Under a similar FAR clause that went into effect in June of 2016, Federal Civilian agencies are required to provide similar basic safeguards.

Wapack Labs CEO, Jeff Stutzman, and retired CIA spy and cybersecurity expert, John Sipher, will discuss the most pressing cyber threats to business and how companies can get actionable intelligence to help protect their government customers, employees, systems, finances, and intellectual property. Michael J. Lockerby, Partner, Foley & Lardner will deliver opening remarks.

Summit attendees can receive two complimentary customized assessments to help identify their company’s level of exposure. CyberRx will offer a limited cyber-risk review that will assess cyber capabilities within the Cybersecurity Framework, and Wapack Labs will offer a mini threat intelligence assessment that can help to identify if an organization has been or about to be the victim of an attack.
